The Problem

Our customer contacted us to address airborne noises from his next-door neighbour. His home was built in the late 1800s but there was only a single skin of brick between the properties which coupled with lots of plasterboard on the walls from a renovation made for a very noisy home. Our customer felt like his privacy was being compromised and he was struggling to work from home in such a noisy environment.

The Solution

As the home was quite tight on space, we opted for our Clip Direct to Wall System on all party walls but we replaced the first layer of the wall with a Fermacell cement particle board for added mass without losing additional depth. We cut into the internal adjacent walls and ran the new soundproofed walls straight across to reduce any flanking paths.

Adam & Rachel were professional, knowledgeable and genuine people to deal with. I knew nothing about sound proofing but they talked me through all my options to help me understand the best options for my particular wall. They were also really helpful on suggesting work that fitted within my budget, there were other more expensive options but they recommended the best package for me that would have the most impact not just the most expensive. The sound proofing they installed on my party wall to reduce noise from neighbours (screaming children, overly loud tv, shouting etc..) has been game changing. Since being completed me and my partner can now sit and have a conversation without having to put music or tv on in background to drown out the neighbour noise. The work was very professional, the finishes excellent and all the lads took real care to protect existing furniture, carpets etc... The work was completed in a very professional manner and attention to detail was fantastic. Some firms do their bit and leave but they even arranged for other tradesmen to help complete the redecoration work after they had left i.e. plasterer, plumber (to re-mount a radiator) whose work was also of an equally excellent standard. I recently used City Insulation to help with soundproofing my semi-detached house. I could hear my neighbours TV, door slamming and arguments, to the extent that I felt like I lived with them! City Insulation installed their ‘Independent Wall plus both upgrades’ system on every adjoining wall to my neighbours and the results have been great! The noise has been reduced by around 80% in the three rooms and I no longer feel the intrusion from next door. I knew nothing about soundproofing before the job was done, and City are not local to where I live so it was a bit of a’ leap of faith’. However, Rachel has been fantastic in responding to all my queries, Adam was really knowledgable about getting the right solution for me and the installation team (Nick, Jack and Brad) were so efficient in getting the work done and to a really high standard. Many thanks to the team for installing the soundproofed wall all along the partition wall from one side of the house to other completely sealing off the noise disturbances I had to deal with.The team of three took two days and worked their hats off with exemplary workmanship and showed ingenuity fixing a challenging situation that they’d encountered.They also set up the house with protection prior to starting and cleaned up inside and outside the door where they worked in poor weather conditions.All in all, I will definitely call them again for any issues and I wholeheartedly recommend them. We are all absolutely delighted with City Insulation and the work they have just completed at my brother's house in Liverpool. Sadly my brother is living with alzheimers now and he does have some noisy outbursts now and again, which is natural for this horrible illness. He is being cared for 24/7 in a normal semi-detached house in Liverpool however his neighbours are not normal and keep complaining and putting in complaints to the police / council etc. I found Adam/City Insulation on the internet and he was so understanding and came up with exactly the right solution. Amazing company. I live in an 1890’s house which was converted into two flats in the early 90’s. When I purchased the ground floor flat in 2018 the ceilings had already been considerably dropped in an attempt to reduce noise but in reality, did nothing to prevent the noise coming from upstairs and made the rooms feel quite claustrophobic. Having lived in the property for 4 years the situation was really getting me down and I was seriously contemplating trying to sell but came across City Insulation on Instagram so decided to at least try to solve the problem. Initially approached Adam and Rachel by email and after the first conversation with Adam by telephone, decided to go ahead with what he proposed for the main problem areas, the two front rooms and hall.Having lived with the new soundproofed ceilings for 2 months I can honestly say I no longer hear much from upstairs other than the loudest of noises and have regained so much ceiling height which makes the rooms feel bigger and brighter.Adam and the entire team are so friendly and approachable, they tidied up at the end of each day, were always on time and incredibly hard working; staying late to get the job done. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone having similar issues and will hopefully be having them back soon to do the same for the remaining rooms.

We contacted Adam Turner of City Insulation and spoke to him about needing sound-proofing along the wall of our living and dining rooms which adjoin the property next door. He talked in a very knowledgeable and professional manner and seemed to be a very genuine person.When he came to our home to talk to us he explained everything in great detail. We run a commercial boarding kennels and needed sound absorption fitting to the kennels. Adam was very friendly and professional. We were a bit of a nuisance of a client as there was 2 years between us having the job priced up and completed due to us not City Insulation. Adam came back to revisit the job even though we are quite a distance away, he adjusted the plan to suit our needs more and the job was started and completed exactly when he said it would be. Can't say enough great things about Adam and Rachel at City Insulation. They are extremely helpful and wonderful to work with. We needed special, custom secondary glazing (acoustic) installed on three windows. I recently used City Insulation to install soundproofing solutions to a bedroom party wall and floor. I thoroughly recommend them. We could hear everything from the neighbours - talking, coughing, music, and TV, which led to a lot of unease and, most importantly, a lack of sleep.I have considered soundproofing before, but didnt know where to start.
