Soundproofing windows and doors

Windows and doors are common points of sound transmission.
In places and spaces where privacy or peace and quiet is of importance, these areas should be bolstered. Soundproof windows are constructed with multiple panes, laminated glass, and air gaps to minimise sound transfer. Sealing gaps around doors with acoustic perimeter and drop seals and using solid-core doors can also help reduce noise infiltration.

Acoustic panels, tiles, stretched fabrics and screens.

Acoustic panels, tiles or stretched fabric over an absorbent core, are designed to soak up sound waves and reduce echo and reverberation in commercial spaces. They are typically made of sound-absorbing materials, such as foam, fiberglass, felt or perforated wood, and can be installed on walls, ceilings, or even as freestanding partitions.

Soundproofing partitions

Open plan office layouts can be noisy and benefit from soundproof partitions, which create separate workspaces and help to reduce noise transmission. Glass partitions are often replaced by more substantial acoustic partitions. If a softer partition is required, then something like an acoustic screen can be installed.

Soundproofing ceiling treatments

Suspended ceiling systems can be enhanced with soundproofing materials to reduce noise coming into or going out of a room. Adding acoustic tiles, baffles, or clouds to the ceiling can absorb sound and minimise noise reflections.

Soundproofing floor coverings

Floor coverings, such as carpets, rugs, or cork underlayment, can help absorb impact noise and reduce footfall sounds in commercial spaces. They provide a layer of sound insulation between the floor surface and the underlying structure.

Noise barriers and sound isolation

Installing noise barriers, such as walls or partitions made of dense materials including Tecsound, cement fibre board and acoustic plasterboard, to name just a few, can reduce sound transmission between different areas of a commercial space. Sound isolation techniques, such as decoupling walls or using specialist decoupling clips, prevents noise and vibrations from transferring from adjoining spaces.

I recently used City Insulation to help with soundproofing my semi-detached house. I could hear my neighbours TV, door slamming and arguments, to the extent that I felt like I lived with them! City Insulation installed their ‘Independent Wall plus both upgrades’ system on every adjoining wall to my neighbours and the results have been great! The noise has been reduced by around 80% in the three rooms and I no longer feel the intrusion from next door. I knew nothing about soundproofing before the job was done, and City are not local to where I live so it was a bit of a’ leap of faith’.... Many thanks to the team for installing the soundproofed wall all along the partition wall from one side of the house to other completely sealing off the noise disturbances I had to deal with.The team of three took two days and worked their hats off with exemplary workmanship and showed ingenuity fixing a challenging situation that they’d encountered.They also set up the house with protection prior to starting and cleaned up inside and outside the door where they worked in poor weather conditions.All in all, I will definitely call them again for any issues and I wholeheartedly recommend them. We are all absolutely delighted with City Insulation and the work they have just completed at my brother's house in Liverpool. Sadly my brother is living with alzheimers now and he does have some noisy outbursts now and again, which is natural for this horrible illness. He is being cared for 24/7 in a normal semi-detached house in Liverpool however his neighbours are not normal and keep complaining and putting in complaints to the police / council etc. I found Adam/City Insulation on the internet and he was so understanding and came up with exactly the right solution. Amazing company. I live in an 1890’s house which was converted into two flats in the early 90’s. When I purchased the ground floor flat in 2018 the ceilings had already been considerably dropped in an attempt to reduce noise but in reality, did nothing to prevent the noise coming from upstairs and made the rooms feel quite claustrophobic. Having lived in the property for 4 years the situation was really getting me down and I was seriously contemplating trying to sell but came across City Insulation on Instagram so decided to at least try to solve the problem. Initially approached Adam and Rachel by email and after the first conversation with Adam by telephone, decided to go ahead with what he proposed for the main problem areas, the two front rooms and hall.Having lived with the new soundproofed ceilings for 2 months I can honestly say I no longer hear much from upstairs other than the loudest of noises and have regained so much ceiling height which makes the rooms feel bigger and brighter.Adam and the entire team are so friendly and approachable, they tidied up at the end of each day, were always on time and incredibly hard working; staying late to get the job done. We run a commercial boarding kennels and needed sound absorption fitting to the kennels. Adam was very friendly and professional. We were a bit of a nuisance of a client as there was 2 years between us having the job priced up and completed due to us not City Insulation. I recently used City Insulation to install soundproofing solutions to a bedroom party wall and floor. I thoroughly recommend them.
