Why Invest In Music Studio Soundproofing?

When you’re a musician or you broadcast from home, it can be difficult to achieve the same level of sound quality and acoustic performance as you might in a professional music studio. However, a brilliant way to improve the quality of your sound production and to allow you to work without the worry of ruining your neighbour’s peace is by investing in soundproofing. Here at City Insulation, we can provide you with high-quality soundproofing for your home studio. Our soundproofing solutions will upgrade the quality of your sounds and improve the acoustics tremendously.

We have carried out music studio soundproofing for a wealth of clients, from purpose built garden studios, to garage conversions and simple, spare bedroom studios.  The latter is important because often people don’t have the budget or the space for something purpose built but nonetheless need to achieve the same effect. One client (Tom) that we worked with wanted to use our services for his small studio which was set up within a spare bedroom of his home.  A fundamental part of Tom’s work is voice recording but he was concerned that the volume of noise he needed to make was interrupting his neighbour’s peace.  The levels of sound that Tom makes are substantial (shouting level) so we needed to make sure that the system we installed could cope with that.

When we assessed the site, we decided that whilst the party wall shared with the neighbour would certainly need our highest performing system, we also confirmed that the two adjacent walls would also need treatment to absorb any flanking noise issues. So, we proposed our Independent System as the base system on the party wall with both our Isowave and double Tecsound upgrades and then on the adjacent walls where we needed to be mindful of space, we suggested our Clip Direct to Wall system with both our Isowave and double Tecsound upgrades. In total, that’s 70kg mass /m2 – so the same level that we would be installing in our professional music studio builds.

Overall, we wanted Tom to feel confident that he could perform his work without encroaching on the neighbours, and these systems absolutely did the trick. We also installed a combination of acoustic wall and ceiling panels because Tom wanted to enhance the way that sound performed within the space, which is so important when professionally recording. If you would like to enhance your acoustics and achieve much better sound quality in your studio, then City Insulation can help make this a reality for you.
